ClassTally Privacy Policy
Summary
ClassTally does not collect your data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers operated by us. Everything you enter into ClassTally stays on your devices and, if you enable iCloud sync, in your own private iCloud storage. ClassTally is designed so that your data never leaves your control: there is no system of ours that receives it.
What ClassTally Stores on Your Device
To do its job, ClassTally keeps the following information on your device:
- Your class rosters: the student names or labels you enter.
- The note categories you configure.
- Note entries: which roster entry, which category, and a timestamp for each tap you record.
- App settings and preferences.
Where Your Data Lives
All data is stored locally on your devices. If you enable iCloud sync, the same data is also stored in the private iCloud database attached to your personal Apple Account, encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. That database is private to your Apple Account and is not accessible to us; it is governed by Apple's iCloud terms and Apple's privacy policy, not by any system we operate.
What We Can Access
By design, nothing: Tamanna Development LLC operates no backend for ClassTally, so there is no system on our side that receives, stores, or can recover your rosters or classroom notes. ClassTally's App Store privacy label will be "Data Not Collected" because that reflects how the app is designed.
Third-Party Services
ClassTally includes no third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs. The only external service involved is Apple's iCloud, and only if you enable sync.
Children and Student Data
ClassTally is a tool for teachers, not for students; the app is not directed to children, and it collects no information from anyone. The roster entries you create may describe students, so treat them as you would any classroom record:
- We recommend entering initials or first names rather than full names. The app works identically either way.
- Because your data stays on your devices and, if you enable sync, in your personal iCloud, it remains under your control and subject to your school's data policies.
Deleting Your Data
You can delete individual roster entries, categories, or note entries inside the app at any time. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data. If iCloud sync was enabled, you can remove the synced copy in the Settings app under your Apple Account's iCloud storage management. There is no copy on our side to delete, because we operate no system that stores your data.
Changes to This Policy
If a future version of ClassTally ever changes how data is handled, for example by adding an optional online feature, this policy will be updated before that version ships, with a new effective date. The current version of this policy always lives at this address.
